What was considered peak masculinity back in the 2000s is now considered as little meow meow energy in 2024
Tumblr media
This clearly shows how far we've progressed and become even more improved versions of ourselves.

As for this godly man, he's still as fiery and yet so sweet even two decades later, if not more, as he was all those years ago.

Orpheus: *looked back, lost his wife, then died later on*
Hades: Well, too bad. At least we got rid of the singer husband.
Hades: Wait-
Hades: Who's that man over the-
Odysseus: I MUST GET TO SEE PENELOPE AND TELEMACHUS... AND IF I HAVE TO THROW ANOTHER INFANT FROM THE WALL IN AN INSTANT... THEN I'LL BECOME THE MONSTER!!!!!

How about the winner get a kiss from the loser? Do you wanna end up in a coma? You can drain my energy any time, chère. Gambit has plenty.

As much as Mutiny/Thunder Bringer crushed me, of course Odysseus chose what he did. Even if we ignore Penelope for a minute (because of course he was going to choose her), Eurylochus and the rest of the men had pretty much given up on going home. "Ody, we're never gonna get to make it home, you know its true." Out of all of them, Odysseus was the only one who still had faith, who was still FIGHTING. And even after being betrayed by his men (who arguably only did so because he betrayed them first), he still tried to keep them alive! Right up until Zeus made him choose. And then it wasn't much of a choice. They'd already given up. And he had to get home.

“this statue
the God of the Sun
don’t know where it’s from”
FASCINATING choice from Jorge to make Helios a forgotten god 👀🍿 because the new sun god is Apollo. it was Apollo who was there with them at Troy. it was Apollo who inflicted the plague and favored the Trojans
the men have seen nothing else but statues of Apollo in their raids and wars and inside Troy itself. so to see a statue of another sun god, one much older than Apollo, and forget who he is…..
and their hunger does not aid them either

a concept. to consider. what if. what if there was a Remember Them reprise after the Thunder Saga. "We are not to let them die in vain" except he's the only one left so it's "I am not to let them die in vain." and there's no backing chorus of his men. because. they're all dead.
and the line takes on a whole new meaning now that he's the one who chose to let them die.
(not in vain. it can't have been in vain, it can't have been for nothing. i have to see her. i have to see her, because if i don't make it home, those men died for nothing. the ends always justify the means. i can justify anything as long as it ends with Penelope and Telemachus both in my arms again. but if it doesn't-
but it will. it will. it has to.)
and our- ... -and my comrades will not die in vain...

SIREN: “Hi, I know you’re thousands of miles from home but it’s me, your wife, just hanging out in the middle of the ocean!”
ODYSSEUS: “Really? Penelope? My one true love, the mother of my child?”
SIREN: “…yep! Here I am right by your ship!”
ODYSSEUS: “WOW 😍😍😍 Penelope, how I’ve missed you!”
SIREN: “Holy shit that worked?!?”
ODYSSEUS: “What was that?”
SIREN: “I said, uh, come into the water!”

EPIC fans: what else was Odysseus supposed to do?! Scylla was the only way home!!
Me, an intellectual: there WAS a way for Odysseus and crew to get past Scylla without one crew member dying. They previously had a bunch of Sirens at their mercy, so if they so wished, they could have used six sirens to satisfy Scylla’s price.
After all…ruthlessness (to others) is mercy upon ourselves

I find it funny how Hades had to deal with a singer who wants to see his wife.
Then later see a man bring in a whole choir to sing about how he needs to see his wife.
